Downloading Files from a Remote Host

Once RS FTP has been configured and a connection, to a Remote Host, has been established then it is possible to begin file downloads.

The
Local File Window needs to show the directory to which the files will be downloaded.
The correct directory may be navigated to by means of double clicking on any visible directory icons in the
Local File Window and by clicking the button on the toolbar. Parent directories and logical drives may also be selected from the drop-down box on the toolbar.

The
Remote File Window needs to display the files and/or directories to be transferred from the Remote Host.  The directory tree may be navigated by double clicking on any visible directory icons in the Remote File Window and by clicking the button on the toolbar.  Previously visited directories may also be selected from the drop-down box on the toolbar.

Files in the
Remote File Window now need to be selected.  This can be done on an individual basis by simply clicking on the file name or icon.  Alternatively, a contiguous group of files may be selected by clicking on the first file then holding down the SHIFT key and clicking on the last file.  Finally, non-contiguous groups of files may be selected by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on each required file.

Once selected, the files may be transferred by moving the mouse cursor over a selected file then pressing and holding down the left mouse button.  Still holding down the button just move the mouse cursor over the
Local File Window, once there release the mouse button and the file transfer will begin.  If the button is released whilst the cursor is over a directory then the directory will be highlighted and the files will be downloaded into it.

At this stage the
Progress Window will be displayed with details of each file transfer operation as it takes place.

Once all files have been transferred the
Progress Window will close and RS FTP will return to it's idle state.

If local files exist with the same name as those being downloaded, from the Remote Host, then the
Download Options Window will be displayed.  From here you can select from a variety of options depending on your specific requirements.
